The Village of New Paltz Clerk serves as a liaison to the public, assistant to the Village of New Paltz Board of Trustees and is the Records Access Office and Chief Elections Officer in the Village of New Paltz. The Clerk focuses on the appropriate dissemination of information, including information available on our website, and also assists with interdepartmental communications and public affairs.

The Clerk strives to meet the needs of the community quickly, efficiently and always with courtesy. If you have any questions relating to laws, village records, scheduling in Village Hall and the Parks, village elections, forms, handicap parking permits, community information or general information, please contact the Clerk.

For questions relating to village taxes and water and sewer billing, please contact the Village Treasurer at 845.255.0130 x.10 or via e-mail.

For animal control, marriage licenses and information relating to specific properties, including deeds, county taxes and STAR exemptions, please contact the Town Clerk at 845.255.0100.

For questions relating to court and any tickets that are not parking tickets (i.e. moving violations, seatbelt, cell phone, etc.), please contact the Court Clerk at 845.255.0041.




Village of New Paltz Board of Trustees

The Village Clerk prepares the agenda in conjunction with the Mayor and the Trustees. If there is an issue you wish to have addressed at the Village Board of Trustees meeting, please put your concern in writing and submit to the Village Clerk.

The Village of New Paltz Board of Trustees meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month. A Public Comment period is always available at the beginning of the meeting for individuals to raise concerns to the Board.




Records Access Request Form

This form can be used for Freedom of Information requests for village records and documents. A letter outlining your request will also be accepted. Please include contact information, including either a telephone number, mailing address or e-mail address, for the fulfillment of your request.

You can also review documents by visiting the Village Clerk between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.




Park Use Request Form and Policies

The Park Use Request Form must be filled out and submitted to the Village Clerk for scheduled events in any of the village parks with an estimated number of participants at 75 or more. Moriello Park will always require an official request, regardless of the number of participants, and must be coordinated in conjunction with the Town of New Paltz. Please review all park policies before submitting your request. Please also include a certificate of insurance with your application. Below is the fee schedule for refundable park deposits.

All checks should be made out to the Village of New Paltz with the name and date of the event in the Memo line. For Moriello Pool deposits, checks should be made out to the Town of New Paltz. Parade/Event Application

The Parade Application must be filled out completely and submitted to the New Paltz Police Department. Please attempt to deliver the request at least 35 days prior to the date of the event but no less than 28 days.




Building Use Request Form and Room Use Policies

The Building Use Request Form must be filled out and submitted to the Village Clerk for scheduled events in any of the village buildings. Please review all building use policies, sign and submit, along with your request. Please also include a certificate of insurance with your application. To check room availability, please contact the Village Clerk or visit the calendar.




Handicapped Parking Permit Application

Please fill out Part 1 of the form. Then, have your doctor complete Part 2 of the form. Return the form to the Village Clerk for completion of Part 3 and issuance of your Handicapped Parking Permit.

Handicapped Parking Permits are valid for a period of time specified by your doctor if temporary, or for five years from the date of issuance if permanent. When your permit expires, you must fill out an application for a new permit, even if the permit is permanent.

Handicapped Parking Permits must be visibly hanging from the rearview mirror when parked. Handicapped Parking Permits must be removed from the mirror while driving.

The Village Clerk is unable to issue handicapped license plates. For this service, please visit the mobile Department of Motor Vehicles Van on Thursdays between 10:00am and 1:00pm and 2:00pm until 3:30pm behind Town Hall. Town Hall is located at:

Peddlers Permit Application

Please follow the instructions on the Peddler Permit Application very carefully. Exceptions will not be made in the issuance of permits. Please note that the application must be filled out even in instances where the fees may be waived. We recommend that applications are submitted at least six weeks before the date the permit is needed. Please attach all related documents - 2 passport-size photos, a copy of your driver's license and, if required, a Health Dept. certificate, an Agricultural Exemption and/or a certificate from the sealer of weights and measures - to your application.

The one day permit fee is $10
The one year permit fee is $100
