2015-12-15 Public Meeting

Public Meeting:

New Paltz community members are invited to attend a public meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Dec. 15, 2015, to learn about the New Paltz Microgrid project.

On behalf of the Town and Village of New Paltz, Microgrid Institute is leading a collaborative project to assess the feasibility of developing a resilient energy microgrid for the New Paltz community. This project is supported by a grant from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), as part of the NY Prize competition. The proposed microgrid is designed to achieve three primary objectives:

1)   Ensure reliable energy services – electricity, heat, and cooling – for critical facilities in New Paltz, including local command centers, health and safety, public shelters, and other vital services.

2)   Provide cost-effective options for all community members to take advantage of local renewable energy resources and energy efficiency improvements.

3)   Reduce energy costs and reliance on fossil fuels through community choice aggregation.

During this one-hour public meeting, the Microgrid Institute team will provide an overview of the project and address attendees’ questions and comments.
