2020-06-10 Water Main Break Updated 1pm
This morning the contractor working on our sewer mains accidentally damaged our 12″ water main on Hasbrouck Ave. It’s being repaired, but residents may see brown water because of the pressure change in the water main that caused the break. You’ll want to flush your lines to remove any discoloration. This water is not harmful and has not commingled with the sewer pipes. we have not issued a boil-water notice.

Ballots for June 9 Election and Budget Vote to be mailed on June 3
Governor Cuomo has ordered that all New York State school district budget votes and the election of members to the Board of Education be conducted by absentee ballot only.
The New Paltz Central School District and many other districts throughout the state have been working with a third-party company, NTS Data, to print and mail these absentee ballots to registered voters. On Friday, NTS Data informed the District that a mass supply-chain envelope shortage is delaying ballot mailing in dozens of districts, including New Paltz. They anticipate that ballots will not be mailed until Wednesday, June 3.
Given this delay in mailing ballots to voters, along with possible pandemic-related postal system delays, there is concern that there is not sufficient time for mailed ballots to be returned by the 5 PM June 9 deadline. In response, the district is placing locked ballot boxes at each of our four school buildings. The boxes will be monitored by security cameras to safeguard ballots and ensure the integrity of the vote.
The locked ballot boxes will be set up by 5 PM on Thursday, June 4, and will remain in place through Tuesday, June 9 at 5 PM. Per the Governor’s executive order, ballots received after 5 PM on June 9 are not valid. Therefore, voters are encouraged to return ballots to the provided lock boxes at one of these locations.
As a reminder, any qualified voter is entitled to vote via absentee ballot. Registered voters of the District will automatically receive Absentee Ballots by mail. Qualified unregistered voters may request an absentee ballot by completing the Request for Absentee Ballot Form and emailing it to sermo@newpaltz.k12.ny.us. To allow enough time to receive you ballot by mail, please returned this form by June 2, 2020.
